Strength in Numbers is a campaign that Providence Mission Hospital launched to lower teen alcohol and other drug use in South Orange County. Initially, the primary focus was substance use messaging, but when we dug deeper, we realized that the core emotional motivator was the “pressure to be perfect”. (Raising Healthy Teens is the companion parent campaign.) In order to make themselves feel better and deal with their stress, youth were making unhealthy choices that negatively affected their mental (and physical) health.
