Creating a Big Village
A community coalition in Portland, Oregon wanted to lower youth alcohol and other drug use. Using the Limerent Prevention Framework, it was revealed that parents lacked access to prevention information and resources and also lacked connection to other parents and community. Limerent worked with the coalition to create a new name and all new verbal and visual assets that empowered parents. Big Village was born and a digital campaign was created and executed to connect parents to the coalition and prevention resources. Big Village was able to build a social media following of 1,500 local parents and over 1,000 subscribers to its monthly newsletter.
